Let us Explain: Don Cherry

Let us Explain: Don Cherry

On November 11, 2019 (Remembrance Day), Canadian hockey icon Don Cherry was fired from his long-standing TV career, as the host of “Coach’s Corner” on Hockey Night and Canada. Eighty-five year old Cherry was fired specifically for the following comment:

“You people … love our way of life, you love our milk and honey. At least you could pay a couple of bucks for a poppy.”

In this very short episode, the guys explain and weigh-in on the whole Don Cherry situation. This episode includes (briefly):

  • Our thoughts on the comment and situation

  • Sportsnet’s motive

  • Corporate pressure on Ron McLean

  • Cherry’s troubled history of outspoken remarks

We think that we have taken a fairly reasonable, professional and relatively neutral stance on this political issue. With that being said, if you disagree with anything said in this episode, feel free to reach out to us via instagram @boysinthebooth to voice your thoughts, opinions, concerns, etc.

We hope you enjoy!
